True Value

Wisdom is realizing what has true value in this world.11603006_s
I was reading a book this weekend called Mending the Soul by Steven R Tracy, and in this book the following story was told: Satan’s role in this world is like a burglar who breaks into a jewelry store.  Instead of stealing the jewels, however, he just rearranges the price tags.
You see, Satan specializes in counterfeit and deceit.  He devalues the most valuable and precious pieces, and he inflates the value of the fake or costume pieces.

Have you allowed Satan to swap your price tag?
Whenever a person is bullied, persecuted, made fun of or not accepted, it is because they are being devalued.  Basically, Satan swaps their price tag and tries to make them forget that they are valued because they are created by God, made in His image, and deeply loved by the God of the Universe.  Satan wants to make a person believe that they don’t measure up, that they have little or no value and they are just cheap, useless junk.
But God’s word says:
Psalm 139: 13-16
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Luke 12 :6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Have you allowed Satan to trick and deceive you?
Satan also swaps price tags to trick us into thinking something of little value is something to strive for and gain at all costs.   We fail to realize and seek the priceless treasure of spiritual things and focus instead on the fake worth of the materialistic world around us.  Bill boards, advertisements, magazine covers, commercial promos, etc.  flash the bling of materialism in our faces constantly.
But God’s Word says:
Matthew 6:19 – 21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Matthew 16:26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?pricetag

So keep your eye on the true price tag….the one God places on your value and your place in eternity.  Don’t let Satan bedazzle and swindle you into focusing on cheap imitations of what God has planned for you.

PRAYER FOR YOU: May you realize your true value rests in being a child of God, fully dependent on His work within you to mold and make you into His masterpiece.  May you set your heart on storing up heavenly treasure, not wasting it on earthly ruin.
